Default Address
Setting a Default Address for your Email in cPanel.
In the cPanel’s Mail section, there’s an option labeled ‘Default Address’. Click on this and at the top of the page you’ll see the following text:
“The default email address will “catch” any mail that is sent to an invalid email address for your domain. All mail that is sent to an address that does not exist will go to the default email address. To send all default mail to the main mail account, simply type the user name of your cPanel account in the email address input field. ”
We do NOT recommend that you forward all default mail to your main mail account because there are too many spammers that use dictionary attacks on domain names. You could wind up receiving hundreds if not thousands of unwanted mail. To avoid this, we highly recommend you select the first option “Discard with error to sender (at SMTP time)”. This will cause any mail not specifically to Email accounts and forwards set up for your domain to be refused ‘at the door’ before they’re accepted for delivery. Select the Discard with error’ option and then click on change.
