Index File

By default, our server looks for files named index.html, index.htm or index.php in your public_html directory if an html file isn’t specifically requested to display.

For example, if you tell a web browser to view “http://vcsweb.net/acme/” the server will automatically look for a file named “index.html” to send to the browser.

When we set up your account, a default index.html file is put in your public_html directory automatically. This file should be replaced with your site’s index.html file.

By default, if an index file isn’t found, the server will show a directory listing of the files in the public_html folder.  As this may not be something that you want, you can adjust this setting by using the Index Manager in the cPanel.
